Why We Need A New Youth Hub

The current DDYP building is a pre-fabricated structure consisting of a main meeting room, a cloakroom with a single toilet and basin, a small kitchen with a sink, cooker, hob and microwave and various storage closets.

Various repairs have been made to maintain the soundness of the building fabric. The cost of repairs, combined with escalating energy costs required to maintain central heating, has the biggest impact on the financial viability of DDYP.

The building’s interior space limits the range of services we can offer. To meet the modern criteria of caring for young children, a space needs to have a separate ‘breakout’ room, gender-designated toilets for boys, girls and adults and modern catering facilities.
